Bring a WRAPPED holiday ornament and we'll do it up White Elephant style: all the ornaments go in a pile, we draw numbers to see who goes first, take turns choosing one, people can steal, etc - I'll brush up on the rules to this before the 14th!  I will provide some munchies, just BYOB.  If you have questions, or need more info, just let Aubrae know!

You can RSVP on facebook here.

Holiday Baking Party

Get those aprons out, grab your ingredients, and get ready for some seriously fun baking!
Saturday, December 11 · 12:00pm - 5:00pm @ Misty Peck's house
Bring a recipe, your ingredients and any specialized tools needed to make at least 3 doz treats.  We'll bake and decorate together, then at the end, each person will take home a little of everything!  It's a great way to get a variety of holiday goodies without spending weeks in the kitchen.

Some pointers:
· If you're doing a roll cookie, it's great to bring the dough already made, so then you have plenty of time to roll, cut, bake and decorate.
·  Bring tupperware/baggies to tote all your goodies home in.
· If you have any fun cookie decorations (colored sugars, sprinkles, etc) that you're willing to share, bring them!
· an extra baking sheet or two will definitely be welcome!

Rocks & Runs & Test Block, oh my!

Howdy, all!  Man, it seems like it's been a while since I've sent one of these out!  Couple of things going on:

POTLUCK
Thurs Nov 4, @ 6:30 - ?
Aubrae Filipiak  /  2505 NW 12th, OKC  /  845.702.5480
It's test block week for all us 2nd years, and I just realized that we have nothing planned - guess I've been slacking a bit!  I'm going to host a potluck at my house this Thursday, Nov 4 beginning at 6:30.  I'll make up a big ol' pot of soup, have some bread and some drinks.  If you'd like to come, bring a small dish to share and a beverage, if you want anything specific.  Drop me a quick note/phone call/text to let me know you're coming, if you would please.  (And, PS, last time I did a potluck EVERYONE brought dessert - let's diversify a bit, please!!)

ROCKS
Some of you might remember our botched attempt to go rock climbing last year - not enough RSVPd to get us the group rate, but then after the fact a billion people told me that they would've gone.   There will be a cost associated with this course - the total cost depends on the size of our group (more ppl = less $$), but will not exceed $20/person (and, depending on interest could be much lower).  The cost covers a 60 min belay class, shoes/harness rental and access to the gym for the rest of that day.  If you have your own shoes/harness, your cost will be reduced. If at all possible I'd like to do this in the next month or so, before it starts to get too cold!  So let's try this again: if you are interested in attending a group Intro to Climbing class at Rocktown, please send an email to: oustudentalliance@gmail.com with the subject line ROCKS.

RUNS
The OKC Marathon is Sunday, May 1, 2011 and I want to get a training group together for it.  There are options for all fitness/ambition levels: the full 26.2 miles, a half marathon (13.1), a 26.2 mi relay (btw 5 runners) and a 5K walk.  If you are interested in training for this or just having a group of people to run/walk with on a regular basis, this is for you!  Here's the site for more info, including registration deadlines.  I'll most likely be training for the half, and have a friend who's a regular marathoner, as well as a track/field coach, putting together some training plans for me that we will use as a guide. Our plan will likely include 3 group training runs each week: 1 sprint and/or hill workout, 1 short run and 1 long run. If you're interested in running with me, please send an email to oustudentalliance@gmail.com with the subject line RUNS.  In the email, please tell me the best two weeknights for you to do short runs.

That's it for now - see ya soon!

Kitchen Tour Volunteers

The annual Kitchen Tour is coming up on Sunday, October 17th from 11AM to 5PM! The tour consists of five beautiful homes in Nichols Hills and will be showcasing the kitchens, including food and drink. The OCMSA (Oklahoma County Medical Society Alliance), which is our "Big Sister" alliance, is hosting the Kitchen Tour to raise money for Hearts for Hearing. Please check out their Facebook page (OCMS Alliance) or website (ocmsalliance.org) for more information on Hearts for Hearing.

**They need our help to volunteer in two hour shifts in one of the homes on the tour schedule:
Shift #1: 11AM to 1PM
Shift #2: 1PM to 3PM
Shift #3: 3PM to 5PM
If you are able to volunteer, not only will you be able to give of your time to raise money for Hearts for Hearing, but you will also gain access to all the kitchens on the tour, free lunch and also a free dinner - depending on what shift you work.

I volunteered last year and it was really fun! I highly recommend that you participate in this event, if you are able. Please email Callie directly at calliedot@gmail.com to let me know if you are able to volunteer and which of the three shifts that you prefer to work.

First Friday

After a slow start to the semester, we're on a roll now!!  October's fast approaching (gasp!) and we're full steam ahead in planning.

We'll start off the month next Friday, Oct 1st with a gallery walk.  Join us for the Paseo District's First Friday - lots of stuff to look at, plus free snacks and booze at most galleries.  We did this once last spring and it was a blast!

We will all meet in front of JRB at the Elms gallery, located at 2810 N Walker at 5:45.  Galleries officially open at 6.  I highly suggest carpooling and shoes made for walking.  Parking can be a bit dicey, though not sure what the crowd will be for this month, as it is OU-Texas weekend.  But if you're in town and want to have a great girl's night, come on out!

Stay tuned for more Oct events - I'll have all the details finalized and out to you next week!  Cheers!  -  Aubrae  -  845.702.5480

new "others"

Tuesday some of our girls went to the zoo reception for the incoming MS1s.  We had so much fun meeting all the new "others." It's fun seeing so many new and excited faces.  And if you slipped by us or weren't able to attend that night but heard about us otherwise...well, we would love to get to meet you!!!

We hope to see all of you at the kick-off event!  We know life is hectic and you might not be able to make every event.  That is ok.  Whether you come to all the meetings or only get to make it to one or two, you are always welcome and we would love to see you!

nks, and additional food, if you'd like something more!
